Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Okanlaw Immigration Group is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, or keyboard-only navigation. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix, and we review this page whenever we make meaningful changes to the site.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They have three levels: A, AA, and AAA. Okanlaw.com is targeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Our current conformance status is partially conformant, meaning some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the accessibility standard. We are actively working through a prioritized list of remaining items.

Measures we have taken

  • A “Skip to content” link that lets keyboard users bypass the navigation menu on every page.
  • Semantic landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) so screen reader users can jump directly to the section they need.
  • A visible focus outline on every interactive element, so keyboard users can always see where they are on the page.
  • Descriptive names for icon-only controls, such as the phone number link and the mobile menu toggle, so screen readers announce their purpose rather than reading “button” or “link”.
  • Labels connected to every form field, including checkboxes, so assistive technology can correctly identify what information is being requested.
  • Color contrast reviewed and adjusted on text placed over our brand colors, to meet the 4.5:1 (normal text) and 3:1 (large text/UI components) minimum ratios.
  • Touch and click targets sized at least 24 by 24 pixels, in line with the new WCAG 2.2 requirement.
  • Pinch-to-zoom and browser text resizing are no longer blocked, so visitors can enlarge content up to 200% without loss of functionality.
  • Pages respect the “reduce motion” setting in your operating system or browser, minimizing animation for visitors sensitive to motion.
  • The site is fully available in English and Turkish, with the page language correctly identified for each version so screen readers use the right pronunciation rules.

Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas of the site are still being brought up to standard:

  • A sitewide review of image descriptions (alt text) is in progress; some older images may not yet have a complete description.
  • A small number of older blog posts and documents predate our current accessibility process and are being reviewed and updated on a rolling basis.
  • Some third-party tools embedded on our site (such as map widgets, review displays, or the online scheduling tool) are controlled by outside vendors, and their accessibility is outside our direct control. We choose vendors that state their own accessibility commitments where possible.

Accessibility of okanlaw.com relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA. These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Assessment approach

Okanlaw Immigration Group assessed the accessibility of this website using a combination of automated testing tools and manual review, including keyboard-only navigation testing and screen reader spot-checks. This is a self-evaluation; we have not yet commissioned an independent third-party audit, though we may do so as part of our ongoing work.
